KEYWORDS: HMI Design, User Experience Design
FEATURE: Academic Group Project
About:
This project involved designing an ultra-wide HUD for an L4 autonomous vehicle, supporting both autonomous and manual driving modes. Based on user research, the ultra-wide display spans across the driver and passenger seats, offering a dual-mode interface: in autonomous mode, it delivers contextual information and infotainment for both; in manual mode, it focuses on critical driving data and restricts passenger-side distractions. The design focused on optimizing information hierarchy and managing cognitive load, refined through expert consultations in automotive HMI design.
Collaboration:
We would like to express our gratitude to Professor Dale Harrow from the Intelligent Mobility program at Royal College of Art and to Tongxin Evelyn Liu from Tesla for providing us with guidance on the project.
